The former Mayor of Milwaukee, Norquist is an outspoken and influential advocate for cities. Norquist has spent the last decade leading the Chicago-based Congress for the New Urbanism, but will step down later this year to write and teach. In his role with CNU, Norquist has helped spearhead initiatives for urban highway removal, mixed-use development policies, and walkable neighborhoods. Norquist is the author of The Wealth of Cities, a book written while he was Mayor of Milwaukee. During his 16-year tenure, the city experienced a boom in downtown housing, created the popular Riverwalk, and became a center of education and welfare reform.
