He’s the chief executive officer for one of the premier franchises in all of professional sports. Mark Murphy joined the Green Bay Packers in January of 2008. He spent eight years in the NFL as a player, winning a Super Bowl and earning All-Pro honors. As his career was winding down, Murphy was already preparing for the next phase of his life. He got an MBA in finance, and served as an assistant executive director of the NFL Players Association. Murphy then became a lawyer. After receiving his law degree from Georgetown University, he went to work as trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice. From there, Murphy transitioned into collegiate athletics. He served a combined 16 years as director of athletics at Colgate University and Northwestern University before joining the Packers.
