The auction is named in memory of Howard B. Eisenberg, Dean of the Law School from 1995 until 2002. During Dean Eisenberg's distinguished career, which brought him many awards and honors, he remained dedicated to providing legal services to people in need. He corresponded with hundreds of prisoners (his "pen pals") who asked him for legal advice; took appellate cases on a pro bono basis; and was a leader in efforts to end elder abuse. Dean Eisenberg was a role model not only for attorneys and students but for everyone. He encouraged law students to "do well and do good."
